Good questions mirci.

On my system, it appears that I have the same wallpaper duplicated on each desktop when that really isn't the case. My background is simply solid black, I have desktop cubes enabled with each screen getting its own cube, and I have the background set to a transparency around 20%. So, rather than seeing the same background rendered completely on each screen, it's really just the skydome of each cube showing through due to the transparent desktop backgrounds.

As for being able to set a different background for each desktop, I have yet to find a way to do this. I'll see if I can't find something though.

I installed the latest AMD driver on my system, but X crashed when I rebooted. I ended up reverting to my old xorg.conf file which also switched back to the old driver, and I've left like that since then. So, I don't have any experience with running any video driver other than what is available on the repos.

Hi,

I have a question about multi display setup. I have a ATI Radeon HD 2600 card. When I tried to make a setup through ATI Catalyst centre it was ok and I managed to choose Big Desktop and so on as you. My only one point is that this setup for me was that on my primary display I had all gnome panels. When I tried to maximize something on the primary display it was maximized to the primary display. So far so good for me. My only concern was about wallpaper (minor problem for me but still) it was allways stretched on both displays. How you managed to have separated wallpapers on each display ? Is this have something to do with desktop cube. I haven't enabled this effect.

The second question/point. I've installed (manually) new ATI driver from www.amd.com. For sure it is better from the speed aspect also video rendering is not blinking. But when I want to setup multi displays in the ATI Catalyst Centre, there is disabled the combo box for selection of configuration. Have you tried this.

I'm using ubuntu 8.10.

Thanks.

I had the same issue with the mouse. One thing that helped a lot (though I realize you are looking for more than this) is turning off the click feature.

Mouse.
Go to touchpad tab
unclick "enable mouse clicks with touchpad"
